WebbIn connected mode, an installation with a TN earthing arrangement (TN-C-S or TN-S) may use the distributor’s means of earthing. In a TT system, the consumer’s earth electrode is used – but care needs to be taken to ensure that this provides an earth of sufficient quality. Webb16 sep. 2011 · Engineer54. Sep 16, 2011. #4. Boberto said: As ive always understood it if you were to run a SWA to a garage / shed, lets say 30m away, and if the earthing system at the origin (house) is tncs then a earth rod would need to be installed at the outbuilding because tncs/pme cannot be exported. Where the earthing system at the origin is a tt ...
WebbFor a TN system, automatic disconnection of supply (ADS) is the usual method of protection. The principle being that the low resistance earth loop and associated higher fault currents cause automatic disconnection within the required time. Webb30 juli 2024 · Of course with a TT setup you only have the rod (s) for earth and so in practice you need RCD protection for all circuits to have any real hope of disconnecting on a fault as it is really hard to get below ten-ish ohms for a couple of rods, and you really need one ohm or below in many cases. Webb16 maj 2024 · As someone who's banged in a fair number of earth rods over the years, I can say that the majority have ended up with an Ra of around 50 to 100 Ohms. Sure there have been a few that have been over 200 Ohms initially, but I've never had a problem getting Ra down, normally by just screwing on an extension and driving the rod deeper.
